Smart Cars are Coming to the US

For anyone that has been over to Europe in the last 5 years, you have undoubtedly seen a Smart Cars. Noticable by their small size, Smart Cars get up to 60mpg and reach top speeds of up to 85mph. Havent seen a Smart Car? Think Geo Tracker meets Mazda Miata, then cut that in half.

Ever since my trip to Italy in 2001, where I first saw a Smart Car, I have been wondering if they would make it to the US, well the time has come.

I would love to have one of these golf carts on steriods, which are so popular in Europe, but in the land of bigger and bigger SUVs I’d be scared for my life. A fender bender and you could be in traction the rest of your life.

If gas prices continue to rise, maybe people in the US will start to downsize their cars (and I’d love to get 60mpg), but for now I see these things as being trendy new toys to those in the big cities. Cool none the less.
