Return Anything To Wal-Mart
The new Linksys router I ordered from Outpost.com came today, and like a kid on Christmas I ripped open the box and hooked it up right away, only to find the admin interface was in Portugese!!! Now I know a good bit of Spanish and could hardly read this so I am assuming it was some spanish language knock-off.
I quickly hoped on Linksys.com to attempt to download proper firmware and see if I could fix the problem myself. After no luck, I hit up the Linksys Chat on their website, and had a random conversation with Lynda that you can read here if you at all care. She eventually just told me to take it back to the store. Since I got it online I did not want to go through the hassel of sending it back so I went to option #2.
During all this I also found out from my other networking friend, Krontz, that the WRT54g Ver 5. is a peice of junk since Linksys completely changed the internals blah blah blah. It is a PoS.
Back to my options, being that Linksys is part of Cisco and Moisty works at Cisco, i hit him up to see if any super-geeks there could help me out. Ask a super-geek question, get a super-geek answer. WOOOSH over my head, well i could have figured it out, but that would be too much effort.
Moisty and his infinite wisdom suggested I “Take it back to Wal-Mart, they take anything”. Instantly, I thought that was pure genius. Out to Eat with the bride, and then off to a Friday night at Wal-Mart (which is a whole different post to be coming shortly).
Sure as hell they took back my PoS version 5 back and w/o questions told me to go get another off of the shelf. I wanted to see if I could swing the upgrade but I believe Jen was ready to get the hell out of there so I just did an even swap to a normal version of the router.
I guess Wal-Mart IS good for something.
