how to cook the perfect baked potato
people always ask me how I make my baked potatoes so fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. flocks and flocks of people are constantly stalking me, looking for the ideal baked potato recipe and hoping that I’ll give up my baked potato secret.
Ok none of that is true, but I love my baked potatoes so much you’d think i was from Idaho. This is how I like to cook mine (as if anyone actually cared)
1. Preheat oven to 450o
2. Wash your baked potato
3. With a fork, poke lots of holes in your potato. If you do not poke some holes into your potato, it will explode and although that sounds fun, cleaning a potato filled oven is not.
4. Rub down your potato with olive oil as if it was your lover
5. Rub on salt (pepper optional)
6. Place baked potato in the oven for 45min to 1hr depending on size.
7. When its done, the outside should be crisp to the point where you can squeeze the two ends together and the spud should pop open. Add cheese and bacon bits and put back in the oven for 5 minutes.
8. Eat!
That’s it, that is how you cook the perfect baked potato. If you would like to speed up cooking time, then slide a metal skewer through the long ends of your potato.
Things NOT to do to a potato.
- wrap in foil (
- cook unwashed
- cook w/o poking holes in it
- microwave

applied the olive oil part to both the kitchen and the bedroom…….fantastic! However, in step 2 my question is, why would I wash my potato if it was already baked? good method….keep the good vibes rollin……
