FanBlogs has it right on target. Butch Davis is using UNC and the media to hype up the interest in him. I’d bet a cheeseburger that he is going to Miami WHEN Coker gets fired.

Call me skeptical, but I really don’t think Butch Davis meant what UNC fans want to believe he meant. Tarheels are buying into a meaningless quote and internet rumors of Davis buying a house in North Carolina. (He hasn’t bought a house anywhere, by the way.)

The reality is that Davis is simply manipulating the willing media to get his name out there for (other) potential coaching gigs. What leads me to that conclusion? Well, I think the fact that Davis gave basically the same generic quotes to The Miami Herald:

Butch Davis is just using the media to get his hat in the ring. He will be coaching somewhere & soon, just don’t expect it to be in Chapel Hill.

I look for UNC to hire an Alum as they usually do, but I’m all for bringing Carl Torbush back!
