Saturday Football Recap

Thank God college football is back. After spending most of the day watching it and reviewing box scores this morning here are my thoughts.

DO NOT START HIESMAN TALK DURING WEEK 1 – The Analysts are going a little overboard with this Hiesman crap. Everytime they do a highlight everyone is a Hiesman hopeful. I was watching the Tenn. game and waiting for Jim Bob Cooter to come out, run for 5 yards, and be called a Hiesman candidate. Its a little nuts guys, and there is no reason for it during the first week!

Pac 10 stinks - they are always overrated and Cal got their ass handed to them by Tenn. who is lucky to have David Cutcliffe back.

USC is in trouble
- they don’t look that impressive. I’m not sure if ARK is bad and USCs defense is good, but John David Booty, is no Matt Lienart and the offense sputtered along all night. Arkansas’ Def Cordinator (the one they stole from NC State) is excellent.

Notre Dame is overrated – Brady Quinn is good but the rest of the team is not. They won that game last night b/c GT’s defense got tired that and Reggie Ball stinks. Calvin Johnson is a beast, I can’t wait to get him on my fantasy team!

Ohio State has 0 Defense – but their offense looked amazing. Ginn, Smith, Pittman, Gonzalez, are going to put up some points and they are going to NEED it. They gave up 285 yards to NIU’s Wolfe (171 of them Rushing). I know their D is young buth they are gonna need some help if they plan to stop Texas…*OSU is still my NC pick

Texas is good but - Its hard to tell by beating up on the Mean Green of North Texas. Vince Young’s replacement, McCoy, didnt do anything stupid and got the ball to his very talented skill players.

West Va- Wow, just watching them was impressive.

ECU – Still can’t stop the run.
Can throw the ball with anyone and b/t Pinkney and Allison they’ll win some games this year but if they plan on coming into Carter Finley and beating NC State they are gonna have to get better up front.

UNC – has no run D. Seriouly none. I dont think they even played any defensive lineman. Joe Daily continues the stinkage he started at Nebraska (his first year he threw 21 picks).
