I Hope My Friends are Better Parents than This
A study by NYMag.com contacted a poll of 100 parents and 100 high school kids and asked them questions to see how aware of their kid’s sexuality. I’m not sure if I am surprised or not about the lack of insight into their kid’s lives because parents these days seem to be letting their kids run wild these days and do what they want.
Some surprising stats from this poll:
- only 25% of the parents think their high school kid has watched a porn movie - Attention Parents, there is this thing called the internet where 60% of the sites are Porn! Actual number 65%
- 43% of parents think their kids have french kissed someone - Unless you are a clingon lover or this guy, by the time you are in high school you have french kissed someone. Actual number 84%
- 64% of parents think their kid hasn’t masturbated. HA!
- only 32% of parents think their kids have said they loved someone - umm ok, its high school, if you get a second date you are “in love”. Actual number 68%
I’d love to see this study done on the topics of drugs among high school students. I hope I am not this disconnected from my kids lives.

A lot of stuff parents would rather not know. It’s much easier for them to look the other way and say “my child never watch a porn video” or something like that, when deep down, they probably knew their children did.
Why couldnt I have been a Borg… they’re much cooler…
In my defense, hookers don’t french kiss.
These parents know what up, it’s just easier to sleep at night if you lie to yourself. If you tell the same lie enough, it kind of becomes the truth. Like Evan telling everyone that he is married and that Jen isn’t his sister.
