Evan 2.0
The Evan 1.0 bubble has burst and Evan has official gone 2.0.
Ok enough third person, I’m not TO (or Brandow).
I’ve finally decided to officially embrace web 2.0 technologies. Sure I maybe a day late and a dollar short but to my defense it is not like I am just now noticing the Web 2.0 trend, but I am embracing it. I’ve used most of these sites before but haven’t really taken full advantage of their features. All that is changing. I’m following the Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 trend and making myself less hardware dependent. Eventually, I want to try and move to MAC laptop but they are just too expensive to try but what this Evan 2.0 movement is going to allow me to do is have access to all my files no matter what PC / Mac I am on.
It starts with
Bookmarks on Del.icio.us.
Ev’s Bookmarks on Delicious and RSS Feed for my links- I’ve moved all my bookmarks out of Firefox into Del.icio.us. Allowing me to not have to worry about losing my bookmarks and also being able to share them with friends, which has come in handy already with Brew and Thomas in NYC and they were able to use my Del.icio.us NYC links. This also allows me to automatically post my most recent del.icio.us links automatically every night at midnight.
Photos with Flickr
Ev’s Photos on Flickr and RSS Feed for Ev’s Photos - If you’ve looked at any of my photos from our Utah Ski Trip, you’ve probably already noticed all my pictures are on my new flickr pro account ($20 / year). Albeit they are a bit unorganized as I haven’t realize to use collections yet. Flickr couldn’t be easier especially with the Flickr Uploadr tool . Step 1 Take picture, Step 2 - Connect Camera to PC / MAC, Step 3 - Open Flickr Uploadr, Step 4 - Drag Photos from Camera folder to Uploadr, Step 5 - Finished.
Videos on Youtube
Ev’s Videos on Youtube - I don’t take a lot of videos but I’ve already posted a few on YouTube from our ski trip.
Other web services I’m messing with
Ev’s Yahoo Pipes - allows the mixing and remixing of RSS feeds. Currently, trying to make the ultimate NC State sports feed. Its more complex than my simple mind so its taking me some time, but once I figure it out, there is no stopping me!
Wordpress - Working on creating my own themes, learning PHP and writing a plugin.
Twitter - Ev’s Twitter profile - Twitter’s reliability sucked before it would constantly slow down my page load times, but I’m giving it another shot to see what I can do with it. It gets a ton of praise in the blogosphere but I haven’t seen what all the hub-bub is about yet so I’ll try again.
More to come from the Evan 2.0 movement!
