I-540 to Become a Toll Road?

According to WRAL, the next extension of 540 could become a toll road.

A joint House-Senate committee is currently considering Senate Bill 1381/House Bill 1828, which would allow a toll facility to be built on Interstate 540 from Interstate 40 to N.C. Highway 55 in Wake and Durham counties.

Apparently NC has a $30 billion road budget shortfall and the 540 project is only 75% funded. Please tell me how you misjudge THIRTY BILLION! So now not only are the gas prices reaching insane new highs everyday and our tax dollars are already paying for the road but now to use it we have to pay a TOLL! Get real!

PS - my next post will be from Cocoa Beach Florida! I wonder if I can surf and blog at the same time?

It probably won’t be much toll, I’m guessing if you use it occasionally, it’ll be like 50 cents or something like that.
