I despise the N and O

If my wife didn’t want the paper on Sunday’s those S-O-Bs wouldn’t get a cent of my money. Take for example Caulton Tudors most recent column “Season is taking an ugly turn.” Now, I agree that the pack did not play well last night, but was it really needed for him to point out the painfully obvious? I’m not sure what he expected from this team before the season started but maybe he forgot there were 5 scholarship players on the roster and then you have to take Atsur out who has been ineffective the entire season b/c of a hamstring injury. Fells is now hurt and Costner came up limping at the end of the game I hope Tudor isn’t expecting an ACC Tourney Championship. I’d hate to disappoint him.

Disregarding the injuries this is the second youngest team in the league with only 1 senior (Atsur). I don’t think many Pack fans had high expectations for this years team, but just wanted some competitive games and outside of the Dook game, Lowe has had his Pack in every game.

I’m sorry Tudor is disappointed but maybe he should take that up with Herb who left this program pretty depleted

First of all, the headline does not match the column — the N&O is the king of this. An old journalistic “trick” is to steal a headline from the last sentence or thought conveyed by the writer … not only is this lazy, but for writers like Tudor, who meander around until they’ve forgotten what they wrote in the beginning, it is disconnected.

If Tudor wants to argue that the game last night was ugly, then yes, there is no two ways around that. If he wanted to write that the season took an ugly turn, that theory would have been better posited after the Dook game. The reality is that State played harder and better against Virginia, forcing a much better team out of their game and into the final minutes.

Perhaps Tudor could stop swilling coffee long enough to notice that State has been regularly playing exactly one player who has EVER started a game at NC State prior to this year … and that player, Gavin Grant, was benched last night. Perhaps he could notice that our captain and only senior is playing at about 70% and has missed 12 of 13 games before hobbling through last night. Perhaps he could notice a lot of things … and maybe even remember that he was among the sportswriters who picked the Wolfpack to finish dead last in the ACC prior to the season. Well, that’s where they are, you freaking idiot.
