Digital Cameras are one of the hottest consumer electronics on the market today, and with so many models and variations coming out, it can be quite confusing. I get a lot of friends and family asking me about some good cameras, and most of them are looking in the $200-300 range, so I am putting together my list of top Digital Camera Recommendations for you. Just for the record I always lean towards Canon, Nikon and Olympus b/c I’ve used them with high success, and I know their reputations.

Now All of your specific needs will vary but for an all around camera, here is what I would buy.

Evan’s Digital Camera Recommendations
1. Olympus 720sw - $314 7.1 MP Digital Camera w/10 ft. Waterproof, 5 ft. Shock proof 1/2.33″ CCD 2.5″ 115K LCD 3X Optical Zoom. Thats right its Waterproof and Shock proof which is great for those clumsy people and those that like to take pictures underwater!

2. Canon Powershot S700 IS - $314
- This 6 megapixel beauty is a treasure. My first digital camera was a Powershot s100 and I’ve had 2 others and they have never let me down. I hold a little place in my heart for these ultra-compact workhorses.

3. Canon Powershot A630 - $257 w/ 1gb Memory card and case included
or the A540 for $100 less.
8Megapixel 4x Zoom, flip out LCD, and just about everything you can want in a digital cam. It is not as small as the #2 recommendation but that maybe helpful for us bigger handed folks.

4. Panasonic DMC-LZ5k - $199
The lower end of the budget range but still packing a punch. 6 megapixels and higher optical zoom range at 6x along with a free 1gb memory card and case make this camera a steal.

5. Olympus 740 - $283 a great camera with 7 megapixels and a nice 5x optical zoom. As are most olympus cameras this one is “All Weather” which means its water and dirt resistant, not Waterproof like my #1 choice.
