Evan, NYC, Spike Lee, Pomme Frittes
I’m up in NYC for the AlwaysOn Media conference and it is cooooold.
I spent the morning walking around dodging taxis and exploring some areas that I had previously missed on other trips to the city but I would have been much better served just riding the subway around all morning as its much warmer.
I went to Pomme Frittes and made Jen jealous. Although the fries were about average “fresh cut” fries the sauces were really good. it’s worth checking out but maybe a little overrated IMO.
Went through Little Italy and debated eating at Lombardi’s, the first pizza place in the US, but I couldn’t do it. I was a little full from the fries but mainly I felt bad going without Jen. The coal fired oven was smelling good but I resisted its siren song and will wait for the wifey to accompany me.
Stopped at a few shops to browse around (patagonia, crumpler, etc). Haven’t bought anything yet, although I’d love some ear warmers.
Saw Spike Lee shooting a commercial for New Era sports (i think). Grabbed a few pictures which I’ll post later.
I thought I would be sly and head to the NY Public Library to grab some warmth and wifi w/o the crowds but it’s packed. Mostly old people with thick glasses holding the paper 5 inches from their nose. I didn’t think anyone used libraries anymore but this one is on the verge of breaking some sort of fire code.
Not sure where I’ll head next but i’m sure it will be crowded.
